My Birthday Wish

Friends,

I have an audacious request for my birthday.

In my work with the Downtown Association, I have been introduced to an extraordinary organization engaged in truly special and important work in the Bay Area. For the next few months, I will be focusing on bringing this great work to Santa Cruz.

There are a number of reasons why I am impressed with this model of service, which I will share with you over the course of this campaign, but the most important reason is that I have experienced the miraculous impact that Downtown Streets Team has had on the lives of many individuals through dignity, community, individualized support and tenacity.

Please help us launch Downtown Streets Team Santa Cruz by making a donation through my fundraising page.   No matter how big or small – your donation will make a HUGE impact!   I am passionate about the work Downtown Streets Team is doing and I want to support them as they rebuild the lives of homeless men and women.  The process is fast, easy, and secure... and you can be sure that it will benefit a great cause!

On February 19th I will be celebrating my 48th Birthday. My goal between now and then is to raise 48 thousand dollars towards this effort.

There is not an option for “Santa Cruz” yet. If you select “Where it is most needed, and type “Santa Cruz in the comments of your donation and we will make sure that your contribution goes to launching a program in Santa Cruz.

My fundraiser will make a HUGE impact:

• Restore hope by providing basic needs, employment services, case management and work experience to homeless men and women who are working hard to rebuild their lives
• House families with children, elderly couples and individuals
• Open the door to opportunity by providing transportation to job interviews, interview prep resources and interview clothes
• Beautify our environment by sweeping downtown streets and collecting debris from creeks and neighborhoods
• Save our bay by picking up millions of cigarette butts before they wash down city drains into open waters

About Downtown Streets Team

Downtown Streets Team helps homeless and low-income men and women rebuild their lives by restoring hope through the dignity of work.  Homeless individuals join one of our Teams and volunteer on beautification projects around the community.  In return, they receive a basic needs stipend and work with case managers and employment specialists to find housing and employment.

As one of our Team Members has said, what we’re doing is a “win-win-win” scenario: the Team Member wins, the environment wins and the community wins – it doesn’t get much better than that.
